Khulu’s luxury tented accommodation sleeps a maximum of 12 guests, allowing each visitor to receive the utmost attention and quality service from our warm and welcoming staff. Each tented chalet is slightly elevated facing a waterhole and the open vista of an old riverbed, where you can enjoy endless views of the plentiful game that meander through the untouched concession.
Khulu comprises of 5 bespoke, safari style suites built onto platforms and 1 luxury honeymoon suite. Our suites are elegant and contemporary with minimal impact to the surroundings and environment. Each unit has an indoor and outdoor shower, a private balcony for game viewing, as well as an individual tea and coffee service. The beds are twins but can all be converted to king sized for double occupancy.
KHULU'S RETREAT: Lying close to the main Khulu Bush Camp, Khulu’s Retreat is a gorgeous new villa the Stead family has created just for you. Featuring 2 large main suites connected by a shared lounge and dining area, the Khulu’s Retreat creates the perfect “one with nature” atmosphere through tall glass pane windows with the best views from the comfort of your bed.
En-suite bathrooms with beautiful white marble tops and an open-plan dining, kitchen and lounge area create a tranquil flow throughout the lodge. Through the open-plan, follow the flow towards the spacious teak deck and all the way down to the fire pit which opens up to one of the ancient Hwange Vlei’s.

Our comfortable and elegantly-styled main lounge is the ideal place to start your day with a warm cup of coffee, or wind down with a nice cocktail in the evening, taking in the magnificent scenery surrounding you. Family-style dinners are also served here, giving you the opportunity to reflect on the day’s adventures and allowing you to get to know our Khulu family while indulging in the delightful cuisine prepared by our skilled chefs.
During the warmer months take a dip in the pool located on the deck of the main area overlooking the pan. Or gather around the fire pit underneath the brilliant African night sky, where new acquaintances become friends, and friends become like family. We at Khulu Lodge believe this past-time truly captures the essence of the African experience and does not compare to any other place in the world. You will find yourself reminiscing about those nights around the campfire years after you have departed from our little piece of paradise.
Morning & afternoon game drives are conducted on the concession and into the National Park; sightings include Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo, Sable, Painted Dog and a variety of other plains game species. Within the concession, evening game drives can be arranged with a sunset stopover for sundowners and your choice of beverage.
Step out on foot into the wild's of Hwange as your professional guide takes you on a walking safari where your senses are heightened to even the most delicate aspects of your surroundings and where you will learn their role in the Ecosystem which you are exploring. Enjoy being amidst the wildlife as the sun rises on an early crisp morning, or as the sun sets on the open savanna before retiring back to camp.
Zimbabwe offers a rich, dynamic culture and through the support of our non profit project “The Mother Africa Trust“ we offer visits to local clinics, rural schools and the Dete Old Age Home. A fantastic way to get to know the friendly people and culture of Zimbabwe! A visit to the Hwange Research Centre to learn more about these beautiful painted dogs and the rehabilitation, research and conservation efforts surrounding the centre is highly recommended.
