Amalinda Lodge consists of nine individually thatched suites situated in amidst the boulders, including a trio of suites ideal for honeymooners, a trio of family suites which have 2 double beds and space for an extra single bed if required, two standard double suites, and one standard twin suite.
The three honeymoon suites have recently been refurbished and named in accordance with historic figures from the area. Their names are: “The Lobengula Suite”, “The Rhodes Suite” and “The San Suite”, and each are steeped in African historical artefacts of a bygone era. Each suite has an ensuite bathroom built into the granite rock face, giving a unique accommodation experience.The standard suites have his & hers showers/outside bath, rock basin, tea & coffee stations, a lounge area, fan, mosquito net, wardrobe, hairdryers & electric blankets.
The lounge and entertainment areas are tucked away into a bushman shelter with a panoramic view of the Matobo Hills. Delicious meals are served on a massive teak table in the open air dining room. A cozy library contains some of the old “African Classics” and a secluded chess room, located amongst the tree tops, guarantees peace and tranquility. For the wine connoisseur, we recommend a visit to Amalinda's natural cave wine cellar. Sundowners can be enjoyed around a warm fire in the enclosed “boma” area. At the base of the camp is a large swimming pool with comfortable loungers and a bar, all over-looking a waterhole. Situated near the pool is our Heritage Spa. Spoil yourself with a full Body Massage, Back and neck Massage, Manicure or Pedicure.
Amalinda Lodge is in a malaria free zone and children of all ages are most welcome. Children can spend their days rock climbing and chasing rock lizards, skinks and Giant Plated Lizards. Amalinda's friendly staff are on hand to cater to your every need.
You will be lead by our knowledgeable and professional guides through this enchanting area. The choice of activities include: Game drives into the Matopos National Park, tracking both black and white rhino on foot or by vehicle, explore world renowned caves and bushman paintings, take a historic trek to Rhodes’ grave and “View of the World”, enjoy sunset hikes to the tops of granite dwalas, and you are welcome to take a tour of an African homestead where you'll have the chance to meet the local Matabele people and visit a clinic, traditional healer and local primary school.
Walking on Amalinda's property is entirely safe – you could bump into warthog, zebra, klipspringer, kudu, impala, wildebeest, reedbuck, duiker, steenbok, hyrax and a vast variety of bird life. Watch out for the elusive leopard, although he’ll see you first….
