Combine crisp white sheets, gentle Serengeti breezes, running hot water, attractive neutral decor with a pop of colour, comfortable sitting area, Victorian desk to record adventures, Wi-Fi and an efficient service – this is how wild elegance is served.
Wash off the ‘safari powder’ in the large shower recess and perch yourself on the veranda to watch the sun set on the horizon.
In line with Arabian influence of the guest tents, the communal areas of Naona Moru Camp are swathed in flowing lightweight curtains. There are two separate tents, each with Zanzibari style pendant lighting to create ambience during meals. One tent is for dining and is fit out with table configurations to suit guest bookings and safari dining chairs. There is an old ngalawa (traditional canoe) shelf for condiments, extra tables for buffet, service and storage as required. All canvas walls of the tent zip open and can be rolled up, although each panel is still netted to protect from insects at night.
The other communal tent is a lounge area with bar service, and an additional charging station for photography downloads. This area has comfortable lounges to relax in, and has access to a Wi-Fi service for keeping in contact with the family. Please note, Wi-Fi signal in the bush is for communications only, no downloading, uploading or streaming is possible. A astronomical telescope, coffee table books, small boutique and a public toilet finish off the area.
Camp operates on solar power with backup generator and running local water supply.
Wi-Fi currently available in main areas. Laundry available, tip only system.
Game Drives (included in the Game Package rate)
Wildlife viewing and bird watching game drives within the central Serengeti are offered twice per day. Experienced guides encourage guests to see and experience the Serengeti through their eyes, sharing a world of small and large wonders that only they truly know and understand.
Family Safaris (included in the Game Package rate)
The adventure starts here! Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp welcomes children 6 years and over. We guarantee a private safari vehicle to families of 4 more during the low season, but during high season families with children under 12 are obliged to use a private game-viewing vehicle at extra cost. Our bush guides have a wealth of insightful experience, and they will fascinate you and your children with bush-wise facts, wildlife know-how, games, local customs and incredible stories of life in the wilderness.
Balloon Safaris (optional extra)
Balloon safaris are a romantic and evocative way of experiencing the wilderness of East Africa, as you silently fly over the plains teeming with herds of wildlife in the early morning. Typically, a balloon safari begins around 6 am and lasts for around 1-2 hours. Balloon safaris (additional cost) in the Serengeti take off from designated sites in the nearby Seronera area. The safari is followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush, a fitting end to a memorable flight in the wild.
Other optional additional activities:
Nasikia Camps play a vital role in the long-term conservation of environment at all locations: people from villages bordering the Serengeti/Ngorongoro are employed in the camp, advising on the authenticity and environmental impact of the camp and income from the camp goes towards our community development commitments – education and employment.
By encouraging self-awareness and good leadership at a focused, grass-roots level, we envision that our partner communities will pull themselves out of poverty. This will therefore achieve sustainability for the projects and at the same time, the communities will become stable, imaginative and progressive contributors to the preservation of the country’s wildlife, ancient cultures and wilderness.
Our camps were designed to give back to the local community, and the desire to help people has been channelled into educational programs, including starting and expanding schools, nutritious porridge programs and paying school fees. Today, Nasikia feeds around 2,500 children across three schools, while investing in the education of individuals from across the Arusha community.
