Spacious and private, the open-plan suites have sumptuous twin or king-sized beds with a normal air-conditioning unit or, if you decide to sleep with open doors, a state-of-the-art air-cooling system cooling only the bed area. The comfortable seating area is equipped with a fully stocked personal bar. The beautiful bathroom with bespoke double vanities, full-size bathtub and generous shower has full views over the busy water hole just meters away.
Each suite has its own private deck with wood fired hot tub for those chilly romantic nights and plunge pool to cool off on very hot days. Follow the walkway to your own private, shaded sala with a king-size outdoor day bed – perfectly placed for an armchair safari or to ‘sleep out’ under the stars.
Elevated on wooden decks with panoramic views over one of Onguma’s most beautiful and prolific waterholes is the new Onguma Camp Kala. With its conical, mud plastered central tower resembling a termite mound and the whole camp elevated on wooden stilts, it blends in with its surroundings and immediately calms the soul. The impeccable and discreet butler service is designed to pamper guests and make you feel welcome, appreciated and at home.
Game viewing from numerous vantage points to take it all in – be it the comfortable living area, the cool and secluded hide, the intimate cocktail bar or the beautiful deck, which is sunny by day and warmed by a fire pit at night. The dining area has an open chef’s kitchen and all-day pantry to ensure everyone feels right at home. For guests who want to be more active there is a fully equipped gym, whilst those who want to relax, can while away the hours in comfort in the ground-level photographic hide, enjoy a massage in the spa room or practice yoga on the yoga deck.
Onguma offers a variety of game activities both in the Etosha National Park and in Onguma Nature Reserve. They include Guided Interpretive walks, Sunset drives in the Onguma Reserve and Etosha Guided safaris. Onguma's fabulous water-level hide affords guests a great opportunity to calmly sit and enjoy nature unobserved. Amateur and professional photographers alike love the angles and light from this equipped hide.
A unique optional extra Sleep Out experience on the new ‘Dream Cruiser’ which offers guests the opportunity to spend a night out in the bush, beside a waterhole, under a blanket of stars. The ‘Dream Cruiser’ is ensuite with loo and bucket shower.
Onguma Nature Reserve consists of 84,000 acres of Namibian wilderness & is home to numerous plains game, more than 300 bird species and even 4 of the Big 5. The Reserve boasts over thirty different animal species. Plains game roam freely on the Reserve and predators although not always easy to spot, are nevertheless common residents of the area. Etosha is a 22,750km² wildlife sanctuary in Namibia – one of Africa’s most stable and accessible countries. Etosha, meaning ‘place of dry water’, and refers to a flat calcrete depression (or pan) of about 5,000km². The ‘Pan’ (overlooked by the Onguma Reserve) provides a great, parched, silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages to an area of semi-arid savannah grassland and thorn scrub. The pan itself contains water only after very good rains and sometimes for only a few days each year, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae which lures thousands of flamingos.
