At Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp, we have 10 tents that remain mobile throughout the year, depending on seasonal reservation requirements and location of the wildebeest migration. We endeavor to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, whilst being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism.
From 01 December to 31 March, Nasikia Mobile Camp Ndutu is located in the Small Marsh area, Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This puts us in the heart of the migration herds as they gather together to feed on fresh and nutritious grass, ready to give birth. This calving season is an incredible time – new life is breathed into these far southern plains – and there is incredible predator activity as a result. This is typically ideal, especially between late-January and late-February each year.
The multiple land use philosophy of the area is to promote the co-existence of seminomadic
Maasai and wildlife. It is also a unique area with the saline lakes of Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek, providing excellent feeding ground for Greater & Lesser Flamingo.

Each tent is 12m long by 4m wide made from well-known heavy duty safari rip-stop canvas made locally at Morogoro, southern Tanzania, plus the additional cooling feature of shade-clothing over the entire tent. You are met at the entrance by a patio area with chairs and side tables for relaxing when you have a moment. The front of the tents zips fully open, including a layer of mosquito netting and the rip-stop canvas (which zips completely closed) with both layers. Once you step into the tent into the bedroom area, you will see an arrangement of unique furniture like sideboard and chair, storage chest (with extra blankets), carpet, an umbrella and laundry bag, luggage racks, torch/whistle/camp information folder, bedside tables, bed footers and beds (depending on room configuration). All the fittings depict colours in natural tones to adhere to the intrinsic area we are located. We offer double (even a honeymoon option), twin, single, triple, and family (quad) tents and each bed is fully netted for custom made protection from mosquitoes and insects. The beds are fitted with imported cotton sheets, double pillows, duvets, and bed runners for your comfort.
The tents have netted windows down each side of the tent which you can fully open with only the canvas remaining at all times with the mosquito netting stitched strongly into the actual tent. Then comes the bathroom area, which can be accessed directly from the bedroom with a separate doorway. Once inside, there is a bathroom stand with a ceramic wash basin with running water via stylish taps, a mirror, a supply of natural based bathroom products, and linen to suit. This area also displays a woven grass mat and clothes rack. Within this area, there are additional toilet and shower areas for privacy. Inside the toilet area is a ceramic flushing toilet, encased in a wooden frame for stability. Inside the shower area, is a stand for washing behind a shower curtain under a 20 litre PVC bucket erected on a pulley system as required. From the entrance of the bedroom and onto the bathroom, each tent is fitted with an extensive solar lighting system for your convenience.
Two large tents make up the communal areas at Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp in the Ndutu location. One large tent is for guest dining and is fit out with table configurations to suit guest bookings and safari dining chairs. The tent walls are lined with light curtains, and there is a separate area for buffet service and waiter stand as required. All canvas walls of the tent zip open and can be rolled up, although each panel is still netted to protect from insects at night. It is typical to open fully a wall or two during breakfast to watch the sunrise and throughout the day to let the full breeze and sunshine shine through.
The other communal tent is a lounge area with bar service, and an additional charging station for photography downloads. This area has giant poufs and comfortable loungers to relax in, and has access to a Wi-Fi service for keeping in contact with the family. Please note, Wi;Fi signal in the bush is for communications only, no downloading, uploading or streaming is possible. A simple telescope, coffee table books and a public toilet finish off the area.
Camp operates on solar power with backup generator and operates with limited local water
supply & 40L bucket showers. Wi-Fi currently available in main areas. The four tents closest to the main area have battery charging facilities. Laundry available, tip only system.
