Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge is located in the heart of Tarangire, Tanzania’s wild land and landscapes. Tarangire is famed for its massive elephant herds, true sense of wilderness and a gentle backdrop of baobabs. It is the lesser visited but more intriguing park on the northern circuit. At Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge, we have 13 permanent tents made up of 10 x standard suites, 2 x two bed room inter-connected family suites and 1 x honeymoon suite.
The camp is open all year around and especially during the dry months, the massive elephant herds travel through the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire and spend their time in and around the park. This is because of their ability to uncover permanent sources of fresh water. We endeavor to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, while being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism.

Download Fact SheetEach tent is 20m long by 8m wide and framed with wooden logs, metal piping and then wrapped in heavy duty safari rip-stop canvas made locally at Morogoro, southern Tanzania, plus the additional cooling feature of shade-clothing over the entire tent. You are met at the entrance by climbing specially crafted stairs and onto a balcony with love seat and side table for relaxing when you have a moment. The front of the tents has double sliding doors, including a layer of mosquito netting for your comfort. Once you step into the tent into the bedroom area, you will see an arrangement of unique furniture like a desk and chair, bench seat, side tables, matting and incredible local imagery. Once you walk through the bedroom and into the ensuite, the polished concrete floors with wardrobe, robes, separate shower and toilet cubicles and handcrafted wash stand with carefully created terracotta basins. All the fittings depict colours in natural tones to adhere to the intrinsic area we are located. We offer double, twin, single, triple and family tents. The beds are fitted with imported cotton sheets, double pillows, duvets and bed runners for your comfort.
The tents have netted windows down each side of the tent, roll up the canvas and let the breeze flow through while still creating a romantic private feel with light weight curtains to dance on the draft. From the entrance of the bedroom and onto the bathroom, each tent is fitted with an extensive solar lighting system for your convenience.
With 100% locally sourced materials, the lodge has been built with a passion for it’s environment and a respect for its beloved history. The large, core gathering area of reception, dining, lounge, bar and rim flow swimming pool is largely an open, eucalypt platform filled with hand-crafted furnishings and woven delights.
There is a magical path of lanterns between the tents and also to our main common area and while we use these kerosene lanterns, you will also observe a mix of solar guide lights and scented beeswax candles to create an enchanting setting to unwind after the day’s adventures.
Our chefs are the creators of fine bush cuisine, using fresh produce from all over Tanzania, to offer a menu that will tantalize. Enjoy your meals in the thatched main area, on the porches or beside the swimming pool. Why not enjoy a sundowner while sitting around the campfire until infinite African skies.
Camp operates on solar power with backup generator and its own water source. There is an in-room charging system and Wi-Fi is currently available in main areas.
Game Drives (included in the Game Package rate)
Wildlife viewing and bird watching game drives within the central Serengeti are offered twice per day. Experienced guides encourage guests to see and experience the Serengeti through their eyes, sharing a world of small and large wonders that only they truly know and understand.
Family Safaris (included in the Game Package rate)
The adventure starts here! Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp welcomes children 6 years and over. We guarantee a private safari vehicle to families of 4 more during the low season, but during high season families with children under 12 are obliged to use a private game-viewing vehicle at extra cost. Our bush guides have a wealth of insightful experience, and they will fascinate you and your children with bush-wise facts, wildlife know-how, games, local customs and incredible stories of life in the wilderness.
Balloon Safaris (optional extra)
Balloon safaris are a romantic and evocative way of experiencing the wilderness of East Africa, as you silently fly over the plains teeming with herds of wildlife in the early morning. Typically, a balloon safari begins around 6 am and lasts for around 1-2 hours. Balloon safaris in the Serengeti take off from designated sites in the nearby Seronera area. The safari is followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush, a fitting end to a memorable flight in the wild.
Other optional additional activities:
Nasikia Camps play a vital role in the long-term conservation of environment at all locations: people from villages bordering the Serengeti/Ngorongoro are employed in the camp, advising on the authenticity and environmental impact of the camp and income from the camp goes towards our community development commitments – education and employment.
By encouraging self-awareness and good leadership at a focused, grass-roots level, we envision that our partner communities will pull themselves out of poverty. This will therefore achieve sustainability for the projects and at the same time, the communities will become stable, imaginative and progressive contributors to the preservation of the country’s wildlife, ancient cultures and wilderness.
Our camps were designed to give back to the local community, and the desire to help people has been channelled into educational programs, including starting and expanding schools, nutritious porridge programs and paying school fees. Today, Nasikia feeds around 2,500 children across three schools, while investing in the education of individuals from across the Arusha community.
