Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park, in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Its high density of wild animals includes the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos. Hundreds of other mammals make their home here, as do diverse bird species such as vultures, eagles and storks. Mountains, bush plains and tropical forests are all part of the landscape.

Accommodation for Big 5 safaris in Mpumalanga are either within the Kruger National Park or on the neighboring private reserves such as Sabi Sand (which has the highest density of leopards in the world), Timbavati (which is home to the famous white lions) and Thornybush. If you're keen on seeing all of the Big 5, give it at least 3 days. But remember, there are no guarantees in the wilderness.
